THE ROLE

Helping keep our schools clean, safe and ready for the day

School cleaning is about much more than making a room look tidy. Pupils and staff rely on the environment being clean, hygienic and ready to use each day.

You'll work through an agreed cleaning schedule covering areas such as classrooms, corridors, washrooms, offices, staff areas and communal spaces.

You'll become a regular part of the site team, so reliability, professional conduct and consistency are particularly important.

WHY NOW?

We're expanding the team

Sparrow Cleaning has recently secured an additional school cleaning contract while also increasing capacity across our existing sites.

These are new positions created as the business grows. We're increasing the size of the team alongside our workload so that our existing standards aren't compromised as we take on more sites.
DAY TO DAY

What you'll be doing

Classrooms & teaching spaces
Cleaning surfaces, floors and general teaching areas ready for the next school day.
Washrooms
Maintaining high hygiene standards and replenishing consumables where required.
Corridors & communal areas
Keeping high-traffic areas clean, presentable and safe.
Staff rooms & offices
Routine cleaning of staff and administrative areas.
Spotting problems
Reporting maintenance, safety or cleaning concerns rather than simply working around them.
WHAT MATTERS TO US

The person we're looking for

Reliable
Schools need consistency. If you're scheduled to be there, the team needs to know you'll be there.
Thorough
You notice the details and leave areas properly finished, rather than simply rushing through a checklist.
Professional
You're respectful of pupils, school staff, colleagues and the environment you're working in.
Communicative
If something isn't right, you're running late or you need help, you tell us early.
Willing to learn
Previous cleaning experience is helpful, but reliability, attitude and willingness to learn matter just as much.

WORKING IN SCHOOLS

A role where consistency really matters

Schools are busy environments and good cleaning often happens quietly in the background. Your work helps make sure classrooms and shared spaces are ready for pupils and staff when they arrive.

Safeguarding
School environments require appropriate professional conduct and safeguarding awareness.
Reliability
Cleaning schedules need to be completed consistently so sites are ready when pupils and staff return.
Teamwork
You'll work alongside other Sparrow Cleaning operatives and communicate with site teams where needed.
Standards
We'll give you clear schedules, equipment and training so you know what good looks like.
WORKING WITH SPARROW

We'll give you the support to do the job properly

Training provided We'll show you our cleaning methods, equipment and site-specific procedures.
Equipment provided Professional equipment and cleaning products are supplied for the work you carry out.
Local support You'll have a local management team to contact if you need help or something changes.
EXPERIENCE

Never worked in cleaning before?

Please don't let that stop you applying. Previous cleaning experience is useful, but it isn't essential. A reliable person with a good attitude who takes pride in their work can learn our cleaning processes. Reliability, communication and professionalism are much harder to teach.

Experience isn't everything.
Attitude, reliability and willingness to learn matter to us.
GOOD TO KNOW

A few common questions

What hours are available?
